I have been reading all of the negative comments about Orlando. I do understand the point regarding the lack of culture in comparison to the North but I feel safe here and I don't believe that Floridians are idiots. My husband and I have graduate degrees and our many friends and neighbors are also college educated with professional careers. Incidentally, it is rare to meet someone who was actually born in Florida. We have lived here for over 10 years and are very happy in Orlando. There is a large triathlete community here and plenty of opportunity to enjoy outdoor sports. Issues exist but you need to take a walk along the old brick tree lined streets, take a bike ride, kayak, go diving or spend a day at the beach if you need to be reminded how pretty our state can be.
