Review of Pensacola, Florida

Pensacola is a terrible place to live.

First, let me tell you a little about myself. I am a student at the University Of West Florida. The teachers are great, but the school never has any money. I am a work at a major retailer. I live in an apartment complex and make less than $17,000 a year at my job, even though I've worked at the same place for 8 years. I have to tell you that the starting pay is only $7.00 and that is after they upped it. Rent prices aren't bad here, but you get paid so little, that it is steep. Also, most apartment complexes look like you live in the ghetto. No one takes pride in the way they live.

It seems like almost all the black people that live here are on foodstamps and welfare. All of the white people are on WIC. I have had to fix two dents in my car from people running into it while it was parked in my apartment complex. One was the size of a volley ball, the other was almost 2 feet across. I have too many other small dings to count from people opening their doors and hitting it. My roomate's dog was shot and killed when she ran out of our apartment. I do not feel safe when I leave my home. A guy that works at my apartment complex and lives on the floor below, stalked my next door neighbor. He also entered her apartment with his key without permission. We also have several sexual predators that live here.
I have different people begging me for money every time I use the gas station at night. The police don't really care about you, so you better hope a crime is never committed that involves you. This place is like a mini New Orleans. There is a ton of prostitution on Cervantes St. and Mobile Hwy. Do not EVER get stuck on either of these roads after dark. It's a sure death sentence. Escambia county is the poorest county in FL and our school system is the worst in FL as well. The only thing to do here is go to the beach. That fun last about 3 days, and then you are sick of it. I see many people coming into the store I work at buying supplies to make meth.

The only thing Pensacola has going for it is that the people here are generally very nice. However, there are a ton of religious weirdos that like to preach to you whether you want it or not. Don't ever live here unless you like to live as a poor person. I'm getting out of here as soon as I can.
I used to live two counties over and life was much better there than it is here. In Pensacola, you feel like at any moment someone is going to commit a violent

Been here since March. Leaving at the end of this month. It's a trashy, gritty, but friendly military town. Nothing special. I enjoyed the beach in Spring but now the outer island is so overcrowded and hot/humid. So I gave up on that. I live on the west side of town in a trailer so I got to really get a feel for this place. It's all I wanted to pay for rent....rent is too high here. A city like this should not be so expensive to live in. All this aside, I can't say I won't miss Pensacola. Some of the nicest people I've ever met (of any race) live here. Had a good time but I was here for work. Thought I might move here permanently but that's not going to happen. What a charming place Pensacola is. Just stay away from Destin/east of that....the roads out that way are a parking lot and the people are morons. Much love to Pensacola! I'll be back one day when it's not so hot.

Sweetheart, I know how you feel I lived in Pensacola all my life when i was kid at 8 on my birthday these black kids hurt me emotionally and physicality, It wasn't until I was 13 I started cutting myself in middle school because of what happend in my life and how much I could take, Life in Pensacola Is a hard sad depression, I have been in so many fights and have gotten still beat by the scorpions 17 times in the hospital, So I must warn you stay away or you'll pay the price.
