Review of Phoenix, Arizona

everything the other guy said is true
Star Rating - 2/15/2007
People here are extremely *low* IQ. Do you know why that is? Because the state spends exponentially more money on its gigantic prison system than it does on Education. People here are not just dumb, they look dumb and act dumb too.
This is a low-wage economy, with a lot of miserable people pounding their head on the dash while stuck in LA-style gridlock on I-10. Thet finally get home to their cookie cutter tract housing, usually a tiny casita or patio home that they cannot sell for what they bought it for, due to cash back deals with dishonest realtors falsely inflating the comps (see recent az republic article)
Did I mention there are a lot of lowlifes here? Theres a gigantic cadre of tweakers, junkies, and crackheads, burglars and property crime. The prison population is only a small reflection of the quotidian criminal activity.
If you are looking to get an education, forget Phoenix. Go to the U of A in Tucson. ASU is the biggest party school ever on the face of the planet. Employers totally don't take ASU degrees seriously. Think about it.... What metro area with 6 million people doesn't even have a Medical School???? You guessed it... Phoenix. And now the U of A in Tuscon is going to finally open up a small med school here.
The only people here who have real money are people who made it out of state and brought it with them.
If you have to live in Phoenix, you ought to know that that anything between central and 67th avenue on the west side of town is INFESTED with illegal immigrants, meth labs, used car lots payday loan stores, criminal gangs, mentally insane and homeless, car thieves, carjackers, drug activity, and extreme poverty.
The governer had to squeeze the balls of the legislature for months in order to get like 10 million dollars to help uninsured children. Meanwhile they passed like a 2 BILLION dollar highway and prison bill.
Remember, the only people in AZ that the Gov't cares about are 1. the rich and 2. the business community.
Remember to think carefully about coming here. You would not be able to survive an entire day outside in the summer. people DIE from the heat.
Also, Your screwed if your poor. Nobody cares, theres no safety net, medical care here is definitely very shabby especially downtown at incompetent samaritan or whatever they call that place.

Dear Aidan, Why not move east or north of Downtown, because almost all major cities are being given up on by decendants of the brave, tough men from Europe who built the Southwest.I understand how you feel,I have been living out there since 1969.
