Review of Plain City, Utah

Used to be a Quiet Place to Live
Star Rating - 4/25/2024
I’ve been living here for 9 years now. It’s on the edge of still being country but also has most of your needed amenities at least 20 mins away or less. It’s a beautiful area with views of the mountains and stars at night. You have the famous fruit belt during the summer and Willard Bay for activities. There is no shortage of things to see or do.
The community is close knit and they do offer help when needed but this can also be a downside as some neighbors become very nosy. Be prepared to be bombarded with LDS missionaries and Bishops that knock on your door asking you what you believe in and making you feel out of place when you don’t wish to share that information. Once they learn they can’t get you in their fold they leave you alone but the friendliness of the community towards you changes as well.
When I first moved here it was a nice and quiet area. However, now that a good portion of the fields have been sold to developers and large houses have been built in their place, the amount of people has increased. Now the streets are constant influx of noise from ATV’s, motorcycles, and large trucks that speed down a 25 MPH zone going at least 50 MPH. The city doesn’t do anything to help minimize this type of action either.
The area is also in the flight zone for the military base and the air is constantly full of jets and large cargo planes flying over causing noise pollution to the point of painful consequences. The jets fly over 6 days a week and, in some cases, you will get as many as 15 jets flying over in a 5 min time span.
The air quality is no longer enjoyable. Between all the exhaust from all the increased traffic you then have the local landfill that will burn the branches a few times a year. The smell is so foul that it permeates your yard, house and clothes and takes days for it to go away. When that finally clears you have the smell of your neighbors burning their trash and when that clears you have the smell of cow manure infiltrate your yard.
This type of area might be a fit for you but if you are looking for a more peaceful area where you want to live a more natural lifestyle then I recommend you keep looking.
