I have been a resident of Pleasanton and the Tri-Valley (including the cities of Dublin, Livermore, and San Ramon) for nearly 30 years. Perception of life quality in Pleasanton, or generally anywhere in the Tri-Valley depends, yes, largely on income. It's a very expensive and busy area to live in. Currently ranked #167 nationally in population by area, it hosts over 350,000 residents as of 2023. In order to own a home and be able to live comfortably, but no where close to extravent, a total annual family income of about $200,000 to be safe.
Extremely diverse area with several large ethnic groups dotting the map. Pleasanton itself, is probably 45% white (non-hispanic), 30% east asian (almost all chinese), 20% middle eastern (mostly from India), 5% black and other races.
Other than that, it ranks high in education/schools, safe and indescreet, many community parks and playgrounds, a traditional indoor shopping mall (Stoneridge), a nice retro-style downtown with many restaurants, good public transportation, two BART Train stations, an IMAX movie theatre, a DMV office, home of the Alameda County Fairgrounds, and two main post offices. Clearly family-oriented and it's been that way forever. The focus is on home ownership seen in middle/upper suburbia. But apartments and rentals are plentiful too with mainly newer/modern apartments. I don't know of any "trashy" residential or business areas in Pleasanton.
Livermore Valley wineries inclduing Wente Brothers and Concannon are 10 minutes away. Uniquely almost equidistant from Oakland/San Francisco and San Jose (Silicon Valley) both 30 minutes away.
The notable weather season is Summer. This is not San Francisco weather even though the city is nearby. Summer in the Tri-Valley brings high daily temps frequently well past 100 degrees. It's mildly humid. Not desert dry. Not Washington DC summer-like. Fall and Winter are usually the pleasant seasons. To be exact, November - April are the best months. No snowfall. Even in the winter, our average dialy hi/lo temps 60/40. Rainfall, is either stormy or non-existant. No in-between.
I ranked Pleasanton a 3 of 5 mainly because I"m single
