Few Extremes

Have lived in this area all my life except for 4 years in the military.
On average we have over 100 inches of snow every year but that's an average - many years there is much less, many years there is much more. Because we have the infrastructure to hanle it (snow removal equip't, indoor shopping malls, etc.) it is not as bad as it sounds, especially for those who enjoy winter outdoor recreation.
There is a dearth of sunshine, though, overall and summers are typically not endless days of sun and balmy temeratures. (It is hard to make the case for ownership of motorcycles or swimming pools with so many gloomy summer days with cold rain and high temperatures in the 60s!)
The good news is that, with the exception of all that snow, we have few extremes! Average annual days of extremely high or low temperature are few and tornadoes, hurricanes, and floods are almost non-existant..
