then Rochester is the place. Its summers are between mild and warm, and the fall brings out amazingly beautiful colors. There is no need to go to New England to appreciate the beautiful fall. Also, due to its climate, the nearby Finger Lakes make it a great place for growing certain varieties of wine grapes. For that reason, the Finger Lakes area is great for people who love wine tasting (specially in the fall), with a large amount of vinyards around the lakes. Winters are more for those who love the cold, snow and snow sports. There are two main downhill skiing locations, Bristol and Swain Mountains. There are several trails for cross-country skiing. Snowmobiling is also popular. There is plenty of snow. Luckily, the city (and the whole Monroe county) is well prepared to deal with it. They salt and plow the roads very efficiently. I have to admit that a place with long cold winters is not my kind of place, but for those who don't mind it, Rochester is an excellent place to live.
