As a realtor, I'm supposed to say "this is the best time to buy," but in truth, any time is a great time to by in Salem. I was raised here, am now raising my four children here, and wouldn't have it any other way. There are only a few small "bad" areas of town. Most neighborhoods have great parks, excellent schools, and well-kept homes. Most of us here enjoy being only 1 hour (not 2 as previously stated) from the coast, the mountains, Portland and Eugene, like to eat pizza (Salem has more pizza parlors per capita than any other city in the U.S.) and have no idea what a traffic jam is.
