People are "Nice" but not "Warm"

I'm from the midwest and I do have to agree with people here with my own twist. People in Seattle aren't mean or rude, they're just not very outgoing or warm. In many other areas of the country you have people who invite you over to their house, or out to dinner, and to just generally hang out on a regular basis. Here, that is the exception, not the rule, in my humble opinion. I have been here for 5 years and I notice a tremendous difference in how people approach life here compared to the midwest. Both have their benefits and draw-backs, but I generally miss the warm kindness and hospitality of Midwesterners. Someday I might go back, but for now I'll enjoy the culture, diversity and beautiful scenery of Seattle.
