Seattle: No heart is no lie

I have lived in the Seattle area for about 25 years now. I love the natural beauty here, but the people are another matter. I have yet to make a single friend. The same is true for my husband, and for several other people I've talked with over the years.
I've lived in several states, and always made friends there. (The many friends I made during my 6 year stay in Ohio wrote to me for over 10 years after I left!)
It's a very competitive place to live and work. I have worked as both a perm and contractor in many companies here, and I honestly have never seen so many people who pretend to be a friend and then stab you in the back while they position themselves to steal your job. This has happened to both me and my husband many times here--in different companies. (He and I work in different professions, and have both encountered this.) It's totally unreal. I never encountered this type of behavior in other states I've lived. I have witnessed this behavior the entire time I've lived in this city--both during good economies and bad.
I agree with another writer on this thread: it's a city with brains, but no heart. I have been wanting to leave for years, but haven't been able to afford it. As soon as I can, I will definitely be moving and I will never look back.
