Wowzer! As a person currently living in Seattle, and planning to relocate south primarily because of the weather, your words strike me as a bit extreme. I find this city to be very friendly and courteous--even among drivers on the freeways (by comparison to other cities I've lived in). While I would say that it's hard to develop deeper relationships here (the in-famous "Seattle Freeze"), people certainly are warm to others here. Judging by the vitriol in your post, my guess is that you may have courted some less than cozy interactions. Just a guess.
Frankly, as a pastor myself, I find attitudes like the ones you've expressed to be among my greatest challenges, and one of many reasons quite a few folks in this area don't really want to be part of a church. May I suggest a quick re-read of the Sermon on the Mount?
To other readers of Tammy's post: Seattle is a pretty sweet city--especially if you have an open heart and an open mind to appreciate (even if you don't embrace) the perspectives of others.
