Hi Joseph,
I moved here from Wisconsin 5 years ago. Seattle is generally very mild. The weather isn't as distinct as the midwest where you get four full seasons. Seattle has grey clouds and drizzly weather for 8-9 months of the year.
It does get warmer in the Summer, but sometimes not until June or July. It starts cooling off sometime in September or October and USUALLY doesn't get cooler than 30 degrees in January-March. On average, during the 8-9 months of drizzle, it's probably 40-50 degrees. It does only snow once a year and when it does the city shuts down (lots of steep streets and no consisten snow removal system) - but it usually melts off by noon.
And another poster is right - there's no AC here in the summer. So when it does get hot for one month of the year, it can be kinda miserable. Thankfully it's not generally humid here due to the coastal breezes.
If you want snow, there are lots of places to visit for it (if you ski or snowboard there are lots of good slopes within 1-2 hours away).
Personally, other than the weather, I miss the warmth of people from the Midwest. People here are "nice", but they're not generally warm or inviting. They do tend to be more introverted and it's hard to get together with people unless they live in your neighborhood, due to the horrific traffic.
IMHO,
Lisa
