The old seattle dead - looking elsewhere

Have been here since '91 and seen the town make its final transition from blue-collar burg to San Francisco North. The quality of restaurants, stores, etc has definitely been a boon, but the lack of adequate infrastructure, average/below average housing stock ($600K for a 1500 sq. ft, unimproved bungalow?, sorry the basement really doesn't count), and failing schools is pretty much driving out this family...
