Don't let the statistics fool you

Seattle is a very self-promoting area, where the locals are defensive toward any perceived criticism of their city. Don't be fooled by the statistics, however, there is an intangible unpleasantness to the place.
Seattle has a very abstract unfriendliness and passive aggressive culture its veneer of politeness. For validation, look up a Seattle times article about "The Seattle Freeze." It's spot on.
Very apathetic work ethic. Many things get left half done or left undone, with the contractor/service person unresponsive.
Toxic work environment: very insular and self-serving office culture -- not specific to one company or the other, seems a general regional trait.
If you smoke and don't plan on quitting, then don't even think of moving here.
Nanny state culture: Seattle tries to regulate minor things, yet lets convicted felons run untracked on the streets.
Homeless problem: expect to be harassed by homeless people when you walk down the sidewalk. Many of these people are also mentally ill.
Traffic is horrible: I-5, I-405, I-90 at least are congested throughout much of the day, not just rush hour. Driving in the city is an exercise in patience -- crosswalks on every block, with undisputed pedestrian right of way (pedestrians in Seattle are also not in a hurry). Drivers are also passive-agressive, waiting at intersections for others to go when they have the right of way -- insisting (literally) that someone else go first.
You won't escape "rednecks" -- lots of monster trucks and flannel when you get outside of the city.
Back to nature -- on days you can enjoy it. Seattle is a very scenic area, which draws fist time visitors in. Summer (Jul-Aug) is really the only time one can consistently get out and enjoy it, though.
Not kid-friendly at all. Dog owners rule this place. Expect scowls and snarky remarks if you take a toddler out in public anywhere. Seattle has many older childless couples who treat their pets as their "kids" and are insensitive to the fact that a caring for a baby is not just like adopting a puppy. Child safety often disregarded (just read the local news, many examples of child abuse, neglect by local parents and repeat-offender predators out on the streets committing crimes).
If you are a liberal: and think you're escaping the conservative areas for more enlightenment, think again. Seattle's brand of liberalism manifests in Nanny state, soft on serious criminals, legislative gridlock, and pandering to the mos
