I am so thankful that my condo is downtown. This past winter has had floods, storms, high winds, snow, and ice. It's been terrible. But, luckily, I live downtown where we are sheltered from the cold temps and high winds because of our lower elevation. I have felt sorry for people (especially those who live in the suburbs) because they have gone over a week without power due to the high winds.
My friend who lives just a mile up Cap Hill has often had ice and snow when I only have rain due to the nearly 500 foot increase in elevation.
In general, the weather here is not bad, it just gets very depressing having day after day with no sun breaks, but you get used to it, or on anti-depressants and move on.
