BEWARE: Don't move to Seattle if you are from the

Recently moved to Seattle from Memphis. It is beautiful here (at least one day a week when you can see the mountains), but I cannot stand the constancy of the blah grey skies. Especially when you're used to the sun from time to time. And the people! Quite depressing. I'd say 95% of the people I've encountered here look at me like I am from the moon when they hear my southern accent. Apparently everyone has seen too many cliche movies of southern rednecks, therefore I certainly MUST be an idiot, and probably live in a trailer, too. After I receive stares from people who look at me like I am in the zoo, some venture out of their cool shell exteriors enough to inquire about the origin of the southern twang. "Memphis? Wow, the east coast!" (!!!???) OR "Isn't it really hot down there?" with looks of horror on their faces. TRUST ME Southerners -- Think long & hard before you move up here. Then think again!
