i've lived here almost 4 years. i make $9.72 an hour and live Comfortably in a GOOD neighborhood. a lot of people come here from 1800 square foot homes in missouri iowa and kansas that they pay like 800 a month for. they expect it to be the same here. when it's not they complain about it. if you're willing to give up the car living in a neighborhood like queen anne capital hill first hill or the central district is very easy. i pay 600 rent about 50 a month in utilities i make about 1500 a month, with no car payments it's comfortable. the two times i've gone job hunting i've had little trouble found a job within a couple weeks. i'm overweight slightly socially awkward in interviews i shake sweat and studder, i still found jobs. the people that had trouble finding jobs must have been petophiles or something. when people say very very white they mean 65% white. i'm white and i only have one white friend. most of my friends are black or asian. in my opinion white seattlites suck they're very stuck up and judgemental. they also seem to be afraid of black people. it's funny to watch some of em just stare or try to shuffle around my friends and i in an attempt not to get taken in by the dark side. if you are not insanely liberal be quiet or people will spit on you slash your tires and steal your notebook. no joke there people get jumped for being on the conservative side here. gotta love those tolerant liberal folk. the government actually listens to it's people we have to take like 4 votes on everything and nothing gets done because of it
