Review of Seattle, Washington

Seattle - it really IS nice here
Star Rating - 6/29/2006
To all the posters looking for someone to tell you what's nice about Seattle, there's a lot to tell you.

I have lived in many cities all over the world, but was born and raised right here. It's true, we do have a lot of grey skies, but it just makes you appreciate the beauty of Summer and Fall so much more.

I love the area because there are 4 distinct seasons. Yes, some are longer than others, but we've got them all. And for each season, we have the activities you'd expect for them. We've got the skiing, the great outdoors for hiking and camping, wine country for tastings, great golfing (Newcastle Golf Course is likely the best in the region), sailing & plenty of water sports, etc. Fall is my favorite season. It's warm and sunny, but not too hot.

Some may argue that the California Bay area has everything that we have here and more. It is much bigger there, but they lack the nature we have here. We still have beautiful lakes & rivers that don't require a multi-hour drive out of the city to get to. And the trees, they're everywhere! It makes the city look fresh and alive.

There have been a lot of comments about rude people here. I don't know where these "rude people" are coming from, but they weren't here 30 years ago, so they must be transplants. No place in the US may be friendlier than the South, but I'm not convinced that Seattle is a rude city. Traffic has gotten worse over the decades and the drivers may not be as nice as they used to be, but at least they will still yield to you when you're merging. Try that in LA.

Seattle's no longer a sleepy little town. We're growing and thriving. Go online and read all the articles about our booming economy and all the jobs we're bringing in. The stats show that unemployment here is among the lowest in the nation. Check the job websites and you will see a variety of positions in all fields.
