Wow, nice rose colored glasses you have on! I visited Seattle many times as a teen coming over from Spokane during the late 70’s/early 80’s. Then in 1998, we moved to east King County. We lived there until last year when we finally escaped Seattle’s dark, depressing, dirty shadow. For many of those years, Seattle was a great place to spend the day, especially with my little kids: the zoo, aquarium, downtown, Discovery Park, etc. But today it is a filthy, sad excuse of a city marred with tags, garbage, homeless tents and filth (just cuz your homeless doesn’t mean you should toss your garbage out your tent door, deficate and urinate on the sidewalks, leave dirty needles everywhere, threaten people as they pass by, etc), and grumpy citizens. We left last year after our youngest graduated HS. Do we miss it? Not one bit. But perhaps it’s us. We prefer to greet folks with a smile, work hard, look for the bright side. We enjoy not being constantly judged and we love a great burger! We found it. And I won’t say where we went cuz, we want it to stay this way. Folks on this side of the Cascades do not like those further west. When we introduce ourselves, we ask folks don’t confuse us with those west of the Cascades. We are refugees.
