Review of Seattle, Washington

Great but not perfect...and what place is?
Star Rating - 8/30/2006
Seattle is a great place to live. But you can't look at Seattle alone for the reason why. Within just a few hours from Seattel there is rainforsts, deserts, mountains, oceanside, plains....anything you can imagine Seattle has it closeby. This is so nice all year long because there is really no reason to ever be bored. There are cultural spots- the Seattle Symphony, 5th Ave and Seattle Rep Theaters, Seattle Art Museum- just to name a few. You also have the Museum of Flight, the Underground Tour, the Seattle Aquarium, the Pacific Science Center, the Woodland Park Zoo (with a GORGEOUS rose garden)- for educational and fun outings. You ahve multiple spots int he Puget Sound for Great skiing, boarding, hiking, camping, boating, fishing, horseback riding, kayating, sailing, etc....you name it and the Puget Sound has it! On top of that there are lots of club- more opening up regularly, and even better bars and pubs!
Yes it has gotten very expensive to live here lately. But I only make 3$33,000/year and have my own place- granted I live in the suburbs- Bellevue/Kirkland area, but its so close to seattle it doesn't make a big difference. It can be done, quite easily in fact!!! There are also many programs in place in King County to help people find affordable housing. ARCH being one of the best.
Yes living in the 'burbs you have to commute...but thats ok. I take the bus and its great, fast and cheap!
As for the earlier comment that most Seattleites only have two friends outside their family...well I feel bad for you that you are so unsociable or repellant that you were not able to make new friends or meet new people. I meet new people and make new freinds reguarly. It is QUITE EASY!
The weather is mild- people freaked out that it got up to 100 a few days this summer :) But that is great- never too hot, never too cold. If you want snow- go to the mountains nearby, but you don't have to shovel your drive or put chains on just to get to work. Want sun? head to Eastern Washington for a weekend or even a day....but you don't get baked all summer long. Want to hang out on the water- great there is water EVERYWHERE! Spend money watering your yard- no need! It will rain a bit later so you can save that money :)
Seattleites are generally very open minded- "live and let live". They are also ranked as one of the friendliest cities and as having the nicest drivers.
All in all Seattle and the surrounding area is Great. yes cost and commute can
