I have lived in this area since I was born 23 years ago. The economy is horrible, the unemployment is high, there isn't any job growth, businesses are closing left and right and there isn't anything to do. I have no idea what a Starbucks is, other than that its a coffee place. Red Lobster?- the closest one is like 30 miles away. We have finally come into the 21st century by getting an Applebee's restaurant in Lewisburg. The taxes here are tremendous, especially in Lewisburg. I know people that pay $5,000 a year for a $100,000 house. The only thing to do with your family is go to the swimming pool or play at a park. There aren't any fun centers and the malls are small and boring.
Wait until you see the weather! It's always too cold or too hot, there isn't a nice median. When it snows, it snows. When it rains, it pours. We don't get earthquakes, but we do get tornadoes and remnants of hurricaines.
This whole area is going under and does not provide a good future for its citizins. There isn't any job stability, or hopes for a better economy. A Super Walmart has been in the works for years now, which will bring a few jobs to the area, but not as many as have been lost in the closing of all these factories and stores. There isn't a variety or selection for anything. You have 1 phone company, one electric company, 1 natural gas supplier, 1 big store- WalMart, 2 grocery stores- Weis and Giant.... This isn't a place recommended to anyone to relocate to, even it's lifelong residents don't want to be here.
