Tampa traffic

David's comments on housing costs are right on. I'll add another observation that may help others decide whether they'd want to live here: traffic in the Tampa Bay area is abominable. The roads are not improved or widened fast emough to keep up with the fast population increase and as a result, the roads are regularly choked with cars moving at a snail's pace. Also, we must have the worst drivers in the USA here. Too many very aggressive drivers who think they're in a race or something. Red light runners charge thru intersections at almost every stop light, sometimes 2-3 seconds after the light has turned red and without even slowing down. These aren't the elderly drivers either, which is another subject altogether. Tampa's retired population isn't as large percentage-wise as much of the rest of Florida, but some of those who are here have a bad habit of "walking their cars" at slow speeds in the left lane during rush hours, probably helping to create the aforementioned aggressiveness in other drivers.
Also, if your native language is english, you'll soon become a minority if you live here.
