From West Palm to Tampa?!

Ok, I've taken time to read everyone's comments and I am literally scared! Every trepedation I had of moving to Tampa was echoed through all the comments read. The only positive I saw was the fact that I'm in Sales/Marketing and don't have to worry about hourly wages. I'm moving to Tampa to work with a company who is THE company to work for in my field. So I'm weighing that with the fact that, housing is outrages like West Palm (where I live now), culture is null (which I expected), dating sucks (didn't expect that), snakes and sink holes (didn't expect that), traffic sucks (At least here you can find good alternate routes ie if 95 is blocked take the Turnpike), crime is THAT bad? (didnt expect that), city run down? (I thought it was considered historic, hell apparently I'm wrong), not a good place for educated, white collar African American's (didn't know that), heat, humidity and hurricanes (yea I've got that down)...but I guess the one thing that ticks me off and I realized a couple months ago...South Florida (Miami, Fort Lauderdale and West Palm Beach), ok...yea, interest rates were low and all the northern folks started to move down and the cost of living went up, wages didn't. So I'm use to that and thought I'd be escaping that by moving to Tampa...apparently NOT! I'm thinking, south florida has tons of old money and dirty money...people who can afford to live in multi-million dollar mansions and condo's starting at 500k for a studio...but Tampa reminds me very much of Charlotte, NC...trying to be upscale but not there yet. So I can imagine the housing boom will crash soon...ESPECIALLY if Tampa is filled with blue collar red-necks. Now, as scared as I am...also consider I spent half my rearing years in Durham, NC...so I've been looking to relocate to place in Florida that has that country feel...BUT DAMMIT EVEN SOMEONE COMMENTED ON THE FACT THAT THERE IS THE SOUTHERN, BUT NO SOUTHERN HOSPITALITY!!!???
