Small Town, Big Opportunities

Thief River is a nice town, relatively untouched by the economic downturn plaguing the rest of the country. You can still find a pretty nice home here for around $100K (a good starter home for well below that). With two major corporations as the town's major employers (Digi-Key Corp and Artic Cat), one can find success without the complications of living in a large metro area. It is a great place to raise a family. The town is small enough that your kids will not get lost in the crowd or become just a number at school or in activities. Grand Forks is about an hour drive, Fargo is two hours. So, major shopping, arts, and excitement is not far away. Outdoor activities abound, like snowmobiling, ice fishing, hunting, etc. There are plenty of sports and extra curriculars for kids. People really care in Thief River. Your neighbors and co-workers quickly become close friends, and take care of you like family. There is the usual amount of gossip and small-town chatter, but that's just part of the charm:) Winters are cold, but sunny. Summers never really get so hot that you're uncomfortable. So, come on up and visit. I am a transplant to the area, so you can trust my opinions to be unbiased.
