Enjoy classic New England two hours from NYC

Torrington is a nice place for a family. School system is pretty good if parents are involved, sports are important. Still quite affordable and lots of new development. It is a town without much industry, but both Hartford and Fairfield County are less than an hour commute. Arts are big - beautifuly restored Warner Theatre and Nutmeg Ballet Company. Rural and expensive Litchfield County offers lots of natural beauty as well as upscale dining. Opportunities for celebrity-watching, but most locals are low-key.
