Living in Vallejo

I have lived in Vallejo for 6 years now. When I was little we shopped in Vallejo. Today, the city is clean and they are making great efforts to make it safe. I have never been exposed to any violence here. I grew up in an upper middle class white neighborhood. I saw more things go on there than in Vallejo. I think people forget, a city is a city. You must always be careful no matter where you are. I feel safe walking around Vallejo, the houses are nice, the people are extremely friendly. Years ago it gained a bad reputation, but today it way nicer. The ferry and the the area around it are signs that that the city is growing in the right direction. Close commute to the city makes it a good place to live. I have two children in the school system there. The teachers are caring and informative. Jesse Bethel High has good standards and is a safe school. I've read what others here have said and I'm confused................. are we in the same place? I asked my daughter who is caucasian, if there were problems with kids at school. She replied NO. No one bothers you and she has many friends.
