Been here since 2014 in a gated community. Moved from West Hollywood in LA, which is obviously very different. I'll say this - it's very White, very safe, and, if you're looking for a cool, hip vibe, you won't find it here. Most people are NOT into fine art, global culture, or public intellectual pursuits. There was one tiny art museum on Thousand Oaks Blvd and it closed. Lots of nuclear cisgender hetero families, the zip 91362 voted 39% for Donald Trump in the 2016 election, and people are in general "nice" and "laid back," in comparison to hyper LA hipster life. I needed peace and quiet after 40 years in WeHo traffic, and that's exactly what I got. But there is very little "diversity," unless you could the burgeoning professional South Asian population, and it's definitely a place for people with "new money." Still, it's nicely located, close to Malibu, close to hiking trails, everything is convenient, no fighting for parking, lots of e-vehicles (Tesla dominates), lots of soccer moms in SUVs, and literally have seen less than 10 homeless people anywhere in the area since 2014. People are generally "nice" and no one has freakouts like you see in LA. Meanwhile, I'm considering moving because of constant headaches and after 5 years of allergy shots, the doctor finally told me - the air is too dry for you here. Get out of CoƱejo Valley. I guess it's either Malibu or Santa Barbara next - anywhere with at least 35% humidity in the air on a given day (which isn't asking much).
