Wheaton - Best place to live in Illinois - HANDS D

To live in Wheaton, Illinois is to step back in time - in a good way.
The public school system is excellent. Most children live within walking distance to a school. There are playparks everywhere and most nights / weekends you will find impromptu baseball games with Dads and sons, as well as Mothers and newborns taking walks without hesitation around town. Friday nights bring "classic car night" to the "downtown" area where people socialize over ice cream cones while listening to 50's music. Churches abound, and Wheaton College is a big part of the living in the town.
To live in Wheaton is to live in a Norman Rockwell painting - neighbors know everybody (and watch out for each other), kids play - riding bikes to the parks without hesitation, and people "hop on the train to Chicago for a 35 minute ride to enjoy a night of theatre".
This town should make the top list of best places to live, it is way way way better than Naperville, Illinois not only because of its deep-rooted sense of community, but also because of its family friendliness, (voted #1 most healthiest town in 2005 by Chicago Magazine)and its ability to walk places and really live in a "neighborhood" ... the town hosts the annual County Fair (held each July) and the Fourth of July Parade and Fireworks are the best in Illinois. Oh - and did we mention, Wheaton has its own free zoo? Cosley Zoo is an AZA accredited facility and offers a great respite in town for quick day trips, picnics, and seasonal events.
Next time you find yourself west of Chicago, Illinois take a stop in Wheaton!
