willard is a great town

in response to Allison's comments......I have lived in several states from Southern CA, to Atlanta,GA, Orlando,FL and Nashville,TN to name a few and I have found it hard to find a place I like as much as Willard. This is a town where you can raise your children in a healthy, happy atmosphere. My son goes to Willard East and I have been very happy with his education. The community is full of nice, GENUINE, down to earth people that are friendly and educated. Downtown is tiny, but I shop often at the local store, Murfins, and have always found it to be clean, and well stocked and friendly. Yes, they are not a Walmart so they don't sell everything there, but it's a GROCERY STORE!!! There is also a local branch of a large bank and they even have extended hours that cater to the community, try finding that in a bigger place. And there is a SONIC, which has been here for about 5 years and now a McDonalds as well.
Here's another thing.... they are smart enough to build new schools BEFORE the kids are hanging out the windows. They built a brand new HUGE high school, and built it to accommodate FUTURE GROWTH. They don't use the whole building now, but it is there for when they will need it. FORESIGHT what a concept!
There is a community center for sports - youth and adult, and a community park and swimming pool with swim lessons during the summer.
There are at least two doctor's offices, dentists, chiropractors, eye doctor, veternarian, you get the idea.......... I have to go to Springfield as little or as much as I want to. There is pretty much almost everything you need right here.
You can still buy land here that is nice and reasonably priced. We moved here as opposed to Nixa or Rogersville for the schools, and to not live in yet another "CITY". We have a small farm of almost 10 acres, beautiful land that I can watch the sunrise and sunset daily from my front and back porches, and NOT have all the noise, traffic, and bustle from the city. My husband works in downtown Springfield and it takes him 30min tops to get to work - during rush hour. Try finding all this anywhere else for the money. Oh yes, and my home is only 4 yrs old and is BEAUTIFUL. My neighbors have older homes, but they are all well kept and everyone gets along. We all help eachother, like during the ice storm of Jan 07. I got my truck stuck in a ditch about a month ago and it wasn't even 2 minutes when a nice gentleman stopped and helped tow me out. THAT DOESN'T HAPPEN anymore, which is sad, but it is a daily occurence here. Willard also has begun to have some different ethnic diversity come in and it's been well received. Like I said the people are welcoming and friendly. If you are a good person, and want a nice place to raise a family, then Willard welcomes anyone with open arms.
The only downside I can say to living here, is that there is a smaller job market, even in the Springfield area, unless you are in the health care industry. Other than that, my family LOVES it here.
