On the decline for 10 years now

Port Orange WAS great 10 years ago. It's been on a slow decline for 10 years now. I really like my neighborhood. The schools are good, and the place is safe. The presence of the police is a catch 22. It's great for keeping Port Orange safe, but the general sense is that they are generating income more than serving and protecting the community. The opportunity to be a great place was there, but instead of using western Port Orange (Williamson/I-95/near I-4 area) to bring in some tech jobs (those are in Orlando or on the Space Coast) or other higher paying jobs, the city decided on bringing every fast food restaurant and a ridiculous amount of apartment complexes. To make good money you leave Port Orange. Weekend traffic is horrible, due to all the apartments, fast food, and chain shopping places are all on the same four roads. With the amount of low income jobs and apartments, in 10 years Port Orange will become a mini Daytona. We'll ride it out for now & sell high on the next bubble
