Review of Kingman, Arizona

Not a good place to live
Star Rating - 1/9/2020
I lived in Kingman since 1978 and Kingman has grown quite a bit but not in a good way. It’s a horrible place raise children, housing costs tripled but not the wages. I will start with why this town isn’t good for raising children, after all the years there is still no activities for children, unless your wealthy enough to buy toys such as horses, ATV’s otherwise the only other activities are playing softball in 100+ degrees, church activities. A family can’t even go to the lake without it costing to go, it was $ 5.00 a car load to go to Lake Mohave now it’s $20.00. We cannot even enjoyed the nature resource of the Haulapai mountains without a cost, who ever heard of charging a fee to get cool in the mountains. The wages in Kingman are a joke along with the costs of housing, how does a family afford a decent home when their wages at most is 50,000 a year with both spouses working. People will say Arizona & Kingman is cheaper to live, it’s wrong, it may not costs in property taxes, but it costs in so many other ways. As soon as my husband & I can move we are going to. I encourage any young educated person to move out while you can before you are stuck like I was.

Kingman is one of the most affordable places I've lived. There's plenty to do. Tons of parks, trails, sports and family places. You can enjoy a drive up the Hualapai Mountains, you have to pay a $10 fee to enter the camp grounds.. Just like all the camp grounds I've been to. Kingman is known as the heart of route 66! They have fun events like chillin on beale. And downtown kingmans first Friday. The sports teams for kids are super competitive and they have nice schools and fields. The best thing is you can walk around this town and feel safe! I see kids running around town and older folks walking the streets. Thats something you don't see where I grew up. There's also alot of jobs. My husband was able to bounce around comfortably before settling on a job he loves. The only downside is there's not alot of housing available. Because so many people flocking to our growing community.

You clearly have not seen the rising cost of housing and cost of living in general throughout the U.S... Compared to most anywhere Kingman is very affordable... As for wages, if that is what your combined family wages are, you better stay put... You will not make it almost anyplace on that... I just moved to the area around Kingman, the people are friendly, prices are cheap, and housing is cheap...
