El Campo is a place that cannot be described in too many words. It's a simple, uncomplicated place. It takes you back in time. It's starting to see some of the conveniences of most suburban areas in the Houston area, but the progress is slow. I couldn't recommend El Campo as a place for a young family with children. The schools are deplorable and there is nothing much for kids to do except frog gigging. It is an excellent place for retired people with plenty of money looking for a weekend getaway from the B--lsh-t of Houston. Especially retired bikers!
