Review of Woodbury, Minnesota

Woodbury's ups and downs
Star Rating - 2/25/2008
Let me start with the good side about living in Woodbury. First of all, there are plenty of schools. I don't send my kids there because I homeschool, but there are many of them. Our hard earned tax dollars go to those schools, but I'll talk about that in the negatives. We have an overall great living environment. There isn't much crime atleast in my neighborhood. There are lots of things for families here-dance lessons, iceskating lessons, hockey, sports, library, YMCA, to name a few. There is plenty of housing too.

The things i don't like about Woodbury is, as a stay at home mom, it is very difficult to raise a family here on one income. The taxes are raised every year to pay for schools or to add on to a Sports Center or make the land environmentally friendly. I think all of that is important to a degree, but since I do not send my kids to public school, should I get a break from paying for that? Also, I don't like how uppity Woodbury is. This is not a friendly town in my opinion. I hold open doors for people and they don't even say thank you. I smile at people when I am shopping and they look at me like I killed their children. It's just odd. People have alot of money to blow here and they are pretty ungrateful and rude. Although it is nothing like living in ST. Paul or Minneapolis, Woodbury definitely is not my idea of a small town. It's a suburb, with lots to do and see, but not as friendly as I would like. It's hard to get to know your neighbors here and many of them up and move after a few years.

But if you have 2 incomes and don't mind those things..you will like Woodbury. It is a nice suburb--clean and neat and the city does a great job of keeping Woodbury nice for others. They have lots of parks and recreational activities and that is great for families. I just don't think this place is meant for people who have more than 2 kids and live on one income.

Hey, you just described Naples, FL. And I see the Apex, NC, that's where I live now. That is true, Apex is nice, but I am choosing rude people over the cold winters, I can't do cold anymore, but I think I can do rude people again. Naples, let's try this again.

For Retirees with a single income you have to be careful. The school system is very expensive. We often wonder why retirees have to pay into the bottomless pit for schools. We have lived here many years when you had cornfields all around. It was wonderful. I think the reasons for being unfriendly is The younger generation has been raised that way.Sorry to say. That being said we agree with Michelle from Woodbury,mn
