Review of Longvi,

Beautiful little mill town
Star Rating - 10/11/2009
I grew up in Longview, moved away to the madness of Southern California in my early teens. Live in in the Arizona desert. Always relished our visits back to this peaceful little town. The center of the town, the draw, the beauty, is majestic Lake Sacajawea, around which much of the town's activity takes place: 4th of July celebrations, every event you can think of, walkers, joggers, bikers, just those wanting to savor the beauty of the Fall season as those incredible and ancient leaves change colors. I am contemplating moving back to my hometown, for it's beauty, it's simpleness, and to raise my two 9 year old daughters. You might have to hit the hwy and on down to Portland to find a decent restaurant....but this little hamlet holds a special place in my heart. And my high school sweetheart lives there. Ah the memories.

This is a response to ArizonaCJ's post. I happen to also live in Arizona and made my very first visit to Washington state in July 2013. My family and I made the Red Lion hotel in Longview/Kelso our home base for a week. I knew nothing about Longview beforehand, but immediately fell in love with the place. It's a beautiful town with friendly people. We went to the 4 of July fireworks show at Lake Sacajawea Park and were taken by the beauty of the park and the surrounding homes. Longview is an awesome starting point for visiting Mt. Ranier, Mt. St. Helens, the Columbia River Gorge and the amazing Oregon coastline. The town seems to be just big enough with a shopping mall, movie theatre and community college. I find myself thinking about Longview a lot and would like to consider moving there. I would like some honest input as to why the homes are so much cheaper there than in most parts of Washington. I want to know if drugs and crime are a problem there, because on the surface, the town seems lovely. Any info I can get from locals would be greatly appreciated.
