Review of Bluffton, South Carolina

The town for amoral white supremacist hillbillies
Star Rating - 1/1/2019
Bluffton is much like an M&M. A thin candy shell, but what's on the inside ain't chocolate. Six years ago I discovered Bluffton via the internet. As a retiree, with a limited budget, it looked like it was worth checking out. I was enthralled with Bluffton upon visiting. I returned home and started my relocation process. I contacted the Realtor I met with in Bluffton; Glenn Davis of Coastal Real Estate. He asked me to wire him $3500 for a "new, never lived in, top floor condo." He sent a video showing a beautiful new condo with hardwood floors and a balcony overlooking a lake. A month later I arrived with a moving van. Moving vans charge a fee; $300/day to sit and park rather than unload once it has reached its destination. When I arrived at the condo I had paid for, it was nothing like the video he sent me. It had been a rental for a decade, was on the first floor with a view of parked jalopies, and was filthy. I had no choice, but to move in. To add injury to insult, there was a lawsuit pending against the builder for code violations that rendered the units, unlivable. I chalked it up to bad luck and bought a condo. Within three months the bathroom was covered in black mold. Apparently, more building code violations and I was not allowed to make repairs. The HOA is responsible. Their response to the problem was "Sue us." I paid my $85 to smalls claims court. You know, The People's Court. However, in South Carlina, it's not the people's court. The HOA hired three attorneys to fight me. So, once again I moved on. To make a long story short, my five years in Bluffton, whether it was finding a place to live or seeing a qualified doctor was a complete nightmare. Bluffton is the only town I know of filled with sociopaths so hateful they will shoot themselves in the foot just for the pleasure of making another person's ears ring. The racism, constant clamoring for status, and desire for a fight made a believer out of me. I really thought the Jerry Springer show was rigged til I saw the endless live performances here in Bluffton. If you're an amoral white supremacist hillbilly, with a chip on your shoulder, this is the town for you.
