Review of Altadena, California

Altadena: High and Dry in L.A.
Star Rating - 8/13/2010
I live just above the 1500 foot elevation at the edge of the San Gabriel Mountains in the L.A. suburb of Altadena--just above Pasadena. We're above the low morning fog much of the summer and experience brisk evenings and bright cool mornings in the winter. The snow is visible just above us on Mt. Wilson. Summers can get warm (except this summer which has been unusually mild), but around 2 every day, a pleasant breeze picks up and the hammock under the ash tree is a great place to be. Despite the reputation, we have many clear days especially in the winter. Often we can see Catalina Island, almost 50 miles away. All in all, a most pleasant spot.
