Review of Somersworth, New Hampshire

Failing town on a hill
Star Rating - 4/23/2020
This is a sad little town that used to be inhabitated by a majority of French
Canadians (who could not speak English) and were employeed by GE, Prime Tanning and the Shoe Shops. Now that generation is dying off, their spawn have moved elsewhere and GE, Prime Tanning and the Shoe Shops have since closed their doors. If that wasn't bad enough, the town is mismanaged by a mayor (who also is the junior high school principal - I kid you not). You would think a town that is run by a school principal would have a great school rating - nope. The school system is failing just as badly as Somersworth's economy.
Not much hope in this sad little town. Consider moving to a more dynamic community like neighboring Dover or Rochester.

I have recently moved to Somersworth NH and love it here. Abundant wildlife , many bird species at my feeder. Many dog lovers walking and jogging with their dogs. Easy ride to all the seacoast beaches (NH and Maine) and many lakes. Boston and Portsmouth a short ride for shows and concerts. People very welcoming and friendly. Lots of natural beauty. Many supermarkets within minutes drive. Trains nearby, love hearing the whistles! Can take train to Portland, Maine. A pleasant and quiet town.
