I lived in Jackson for a long time I lived on 1st and 3rd Street right over by Frank's party store before that b**** burnt down. My dad and I would sit out on the front porch and bullets with whiz by us! Prostitutes walking up all the time saying how you doing baby ?? if you don't got a tough heart and tough skin it's not be the city I recommend living in. but the one thing I will say about it if you get to know your neighbors and stuff everybody's really close there like a tight nett group of people

Perhaps not judge the entirety of a city or it's people based on an experience living in one of the roughest part of town (where I've also loved and walked regularly at times with no problems..).. Every city has their less desirable areas but that isnt a fair representation of the whole, and even in those neighborhoods I have walked freely during all hours as a woman alone and never had a problem.

Jackson should not be judged as a whole by the conditions at First and Third Streets..Along with a few other neighborhoods housing criminals, drug trafficking, prostitution, etc. The city is not unlike any other larger city in MI. There is lots of good happening..Yet, still some bad as there will always be.
