Review of Gallatin, Tennessee

If you don't like it, go home
Star Rating - 4/15/2019
Gallatin is a great place to live.... If you want to live in the South. Unlike Murfreesboro or Nashville, Gallatin has not been over run by northerners who want to destroy the local culture. Yes, there are problems like anywhere else, but that is with any city. The majority of the population is Christian, and if you don't like the fact that Tennessee churches actually teach the Bible instead of "social justice", then leave.
It never fails to amaze me how all of these Yankees move to TN, and then they want to talk about how horrible it is, blah blah blah...
We never asked for you to invade us, and we sure as hell never asked for you to move here and look down your noses at us, either.
If you don't like it here, go back to where you came from. I love Summer County, where the local government has kept the town from being turned into another bunch of condos for rude Yankees.

First off, thank you for your insight; secondly branding those of us who were raised in the north - Yankees is unfair and shortsighted. Most "Yankees" move to the south because the taxes are so damn low, and the weather is mild; plus I find the people to be very friendly. Life is short, branding people is exhausting; let's just try to tamper the rhetoric because I think that's what our Lord Jesus Christ intended. Peace out - This Yankee who is moving to TN.....

I am one of those Northerners you complain about. I have absolutely loved TN since I visited Gatlinburg when I was a teenager & I always wanted to live there, my dream was to retire there. I moved to FL 20 years ago (job transfer) and now am retiring. If you were to meet me you would surely find that I am not the kind of Northerner you speak about. I appreciate the little & simple things in life. I believe in God & Family, I am a very loyal friend & a good listener. By being a Northerner I enjoy the cooler weather & the changing color of the leaves, I also enjoy county fairs, state fairs, local fairs. I believe in supporting local businesses & having pride in the town I live in. Remember "Judge not lest ye be judged". I seems to me that you are very judgmental, maybe that is why the Northerners you encounter are rude & look down their nose at you. You appear to be ignorant & not a Christian I was taught to "Love my neighbor & to forgive." Maybe you need to look at yourself & your attitude closer.

Dear Daniel, Your contempt for Northerners is palpable. Did you ever take the time to find out why Northerners say all you accuse them of ventilating about your fair city? I live in the North in a very affluent suburb and when I meet Southerners who have been transferred here it is the same results. You have got to understand that moving to another part of this great country is traumatic and it takes time to establish oneself and realize that nothing can be like home but the dissimilarities can offer personal growth, achievement and finally acceptance and understanding of people places and things. I could say that you just speak, at excessive length and with little real content. You just complain but offer no solutions. Maybe it is just your frustrations venting. Please take the time to befriend some of these "Damn Yankees" and you might find you have a lot in common.
