Review of Ben Lomond, California

A Gem
Star Rating - 9/14/2021
I've lived in Ben Lomond since 1998 with my family. The schools (located in Felton and Boulder Creek) churn out wonderful kids. There are also private and charter options in nearby Santa Cruz.

The town of Ben Lomond itself is small, yet there is a hardware store, grocery store, feed store, coffee shops, a gas station, a couple bars and a couple restaurants. It's the kind of place where if there are three people ahead of you in line, you wonder why it's so crowded. The cool thing is, you are still only 20 minutes to the beach in Santa Cruz, about 35 minutes from San Jose and an hour and a half from San Francisco. It's really a hidden gem which makes me wonder why I am writing this.

Ben Lomond is surrounded by redwoods and mountainous forest. That being said, if there is a drought, and the summer is hot, there is the risk of wildfire. Ben Lomond is pretty well protected and close enough to other towns that the danger is minimal, but it's still there. Anywhere you go, you'll run the risk of one thing or another, like tornadoes, hurricanes, floods, etc. We don't have those. But, you know., fires are a possibility.
