Review of Tracy, California

As a 16 year resident of Tracy, I can confirm the other comments about it being crowded, expensive, and poor schools. The town is now divided over school funding with an older high school falling apart after years of telling the newcomers to pay for their own schools (through a $1200 /year tax surcharge called Mello-Roos). They now want a Bond that everyone will pay for to repair the old School.

When I moved to Tracy 17 years ago, it was a fairly small Farming community with population barely 20,000. Now with many moving in from the bay area, the population has skyrocketed to over 80,000 along with increased traffic, Bay Area attitudes, and yes, Crime.

Glad I got out when I did. Although I miss the Sierra and the Mountains, I don't regret leaving Tracy. Consider it very carefully before moving there.
