Review of Washburn, Missouri

Small town serenity
Star Rating - 1/9/2016
My husband and I moved here from the Chicago suburbs 2 years ago looking for an escape from the hustle and bustle. We most certainly got it here. Washburn is a tiny town with no amenities besides one gas station, a lawnmower repair, and a resale shop. Get ready to wave to everyone you drive past on the road and for a lot of small talk with your neighbors. People are incredibly friendly and incredibly religious (but this is the Bible belt, so what did I expect?) The weather is an average of 20 degrees warmer than Chicago, but watch out for ticks; they're relentless. We live on 60 acres of wooded property in a little cabin where a wood fireplace heats our home. It's a haven for sure. Southwest Missouri is a really nice place to live; any town around here is just about the same.
