Review of Allentown, Pennsylvania

Endless winter and not very safe.
Star Rating - 6/6/2020
do you like cold and snow? Allentown may not be the coldest place in the country but it gets very cold and the winter feels endless...arctic blast after another and there is no spring. It can get in the 30s even in April and it can get cold and even snow at start of May. You get the 6-7 months of cold and winter and 2-3 months of hot and humid weather. There is a LOT of crime, very high rate compared to average.

The weather is not that cold in Allentown, and there is barely any snow. Only 29 inches! That's barely any compared to other similar places. The winter isn't that bad, rarely below freezing, and there are ice skating rinks and ski resorts where you can enjoy the winter. Compared to the summer, winter is a blessing. In the summer, it gets so hot(90+ degrees!!!) that if you leave your car to do something real quick and leave your child or pet inside the car alone for 10 minutes or so, and the windows are closed, the car reaches FATAL temperatures that will KILL anyone inside of it. (150?+!!!) Summer is the endless season of suffering in Allentown. In winter, there are plenty of things to enjoy such as skiing and ice skating. There are also fun things to do in summer, such as going to a playground, which Allentown has plenty of. As long as it isn't raining or boiling hot, that is. In the summer in Allentown, it's always either raining, or so hot that putting your hand on the ground outside for a few seconds is like plunging it in boiling water. Allentown is not that cold in winter- everyone just underdresses. I see so many people who take off their coat or jacket when they come inside and only have a short-sleeved T-shirt inside of it! To stay warm, you should wear: October-Mid November: Two long sleeved shirts and a light jacket, and decently warm pants (honestly I'm not bothered with having to wear so much even when inside, because the extra pockets are convienent) Late November-Mid March: Two/three long sleeved shirts and a jacket when inside, when going outside put on a coat instead of the jacket. I sometimes put on non-thermal long underwear and tuck them into my socks, which help keep my warm and protect my ankles from the wind if there is any. Late March/April-Early May: Two long sleeved shirts, usually don't need a jacket. Polyester pants are usually warm enough. Mid May-September: A short sleeved T-shirt and shorts are enough, thin socks and shoes that aren't that warm. Summer is extremely hot in Allentown, and on days with no clouds and the sun beating down on you, you definitely want sunscreen. Temperature is never the problem. Not enough/too much clothes are what causes people to think the weather is cold or hot. Allentown isn't generally a very cold or hot place in terms of average temperature year-round, but the temperatures change dramatically between winter and summer.
