Review of Portland, Oregon

Good life/work balance
Star Rating - 11/9/2007
East Coast visitors may mistake Portland residents for slackers. They aren't. They simply seek balance in their lives, not wealth and status. Everyone here lives two lives: their work life and their passion, whether it be playing in a garage band, cycling, hiking, acting in small theaters or shooting low-budget films.

Thanks for your insight, Steve. We're looking to relocate to place where people live more real (our definition sounds like what you describe). After LA, Manhattan, Long Beach, and Philly in 20 years, we're ready to stop bouncing coast to coast and settle. Portland looks and sounds like our spot.

Enough with the regional stereotypes. People seeking a life/work balance can be found in all 50 states and the District of Columbia, as can workaholics.

Im from Boston originally but I am the type who enjoys Portland since I look to seek a balance. I can work hard but I sure wouldnt wanna make it my life. Id rather work to live than live to work and believe the free market can work. Superficiality is not my thing either like what some northerners created in FL.
