Review of Pahrump, Nevada

Pahrump has changed and it's grown
Star Rating - 2/5/2021
Someone needs to update this information. Things have changed. The Town of Pahrump is making changes. No one wants negative comments about where they live, and the fact is there is so much good about living in Pahrump that it's a shame that a few bad mouthers who complain about other things in life have to bring that negativity to a National Website as if it's the truth stigmatizing and ruining our good name of Pahrump. Wikipedia has better information to go by than complainers here.
I've lived here since April 2016. Lived in Vegas where crime grew and we were robbed of practically everything the thieves could carry out of our house in a gated community. Calling 911 there sometimes caused a 20 minute wait due to the number of calls they get there. We loved living in LV for all it offered, but the crime was enough. The drugs there were too much. Homelessness grew as it does in major cities. So we moved away, yet close enough that my husband could still drive in to work.
Since then, the main highway has expanded and it's a beautiful drive now into and out of Vegas going to and from Pahrump.
Pahrump has also grown with a beautiful community similar to Summerlin, in Vegas, known as Mountain Falls with a gorgeous Golf Course and Grill Room over looking the Lake.
Spring Mountain Motor Resort and Country Club also has a lake in addition to their high performance race track. The lake offers jet pack rides over the lake.
Hot Air balloons come out to Pahrump for the beauty of it all.
It's full of more nature due to the valley with so much wildlife to see. We even put signs up to watch for Wild Burrows and Wild Horses. Rabbits are everywhere. Coyotes too. There is so much beauty with awesome desert sunsets and NOT all of the crime that a major metropolitan CITY has out here.
The town is also doing a clean up campaign and no longer allowing Trailers to live on property, since most everyone in town wants to see the eyesores done away with. So, that is improving. As well as investors coming to town and making changes to improve the old and make it better.
There are some concerns with homeowner's private wells, in regards to the town wanting to improve things. Nevertheless much of the town is now on public water, yet some remain with their well rights.
Unfortunately, some people who still use drugs do come here, as they do anywhere. There is more open space for people to live without neighbors right on top of them. So having more land is always a nice thing without hearing your neighbors.
I can go on and on about all of the nice things in Pahrump and most of the community pride for all we care about. Unfortunately not everyone is nice. There is a grumpy guy in town, just like anywhere else.
But our town is growing. New construction is underway. People are moving here. Prices are more affordable and taxes much better than elsewhere. We have practically every big business in town along with every mom & pop small business too. If you go to Facebook, you'll see a lot of groups there praising our town.
We love it, and Snowbirds love it too.
We have grown and the numbers need to be updated.

I agree. This is definitely a nice place and not far from Las Vegas if you need something that isn't here. It's also growing steadily. The main big issues I have seen are the schools aren't great (Nevada isn't highly ranked to start with...) and we have too few doctors and especially specialists. Again, Vegas isn't too far, but it would be nice to not have to drive an hour just to see them routinely.
