Review of Lincoln, Nebraska

LINCOLN ISN'T THAT GREAT
Star Rating - 1/25/2021
I've lived in Lincoln since 1965. Since the Boosalis Administration the city has been in a slow continual decline despite a growing population. Downtown Lincoln is largely an overpriced dead spot. University and high school sports are about the only entertainment the city has. The churches used to be fairly conservative, they are now mostly dead or doubtfully Christian. The schools are passable, but used to be better. The downtown neighborhoods are experiencing more violent crimes, drive-by shootings. Where as the city used have great pride in their lawns, the properties look more neglected over all. The city does not take care of the parks as they ought. When the mayor says "all the streets are plowed" in the winter . . . they are not, especially in near downtown residential districts. The city has little historic architecture except for the Capitol. In the last 20 years the city looks more and more like sterile Post post-modern wasteland. Television and radio stink and internet is too expensive as regards to Windstream and Spectrum. If you want an urban area, Lincoln is like an old rolled up carpet full on Post post-modern junk inside. The University isn't any better than average. The city is also politically divided with large Conservative population, but largely controlled by Liberal interests that promote Progressive decline. Outside of groceries, I buy very little from Lincoln business. The city does not offer much. The people used to be more friendly. Its showing serious urban social decay. Unless you work for the government or the university, you'd better like agriculture, because unless you have a good hobby, there isn't a heck of a lot to do.
