I was born and raised here. Left in my mid twenties because of the job market. Moved back when I was 40 to be near family - worst decision I ever made! This review is NOT idiotic like another person said. It’s right on! Don’t move here if you like 4 seasons. It’s winter for seven months, then cold and rainy, three weeks of actual summer that you can’t enjoy because of mosquitoes, gnats and flies, a short fall and early winter. Don’t move here if you enjoy gardening. Don’t move here if you have trouble walking on slippery surfaces, or use a chair. This town is not disability-friendly. Don’t move here to retire unless you like being home bound. The mind set is dominated by a redneck, “huntin’, fishin’, snowmobilin’” culture that puts women back in the 50’s. And housing stinks. There are expensive new houses and condos for the docs and lawyers, and shacks for the poor (slumlord heaven) but few houses for the middle class. People try HARD to talk this place up, but you can start all the craft breweries you want; it’s just putting lipstick on a pig. You can talk about winter activities up the wazoo, but they’re only for the young and athletic. This town is really only good for tourists. The epitome of “nice place to visit, wouldn’t want to live there”. If I could move, I would. Nobody has a right to talk smack about Duluth more than me, having lived her for over 50 years.
