Gaylord Is NOT For Everyone!

Gaylord is not for everyone, whether you have money or not. The Winters are very rough and very cold. The Summers are pristine however, but the water is still cold most of the year. I suggest someone who has money to buy a vacation home up here for seasonal purposes, and don't make this a permanent residence unless you really like the cold and shoveling lots of snow. For the poor community, it is very rough and hard to make it here. Jobs are limited and are only available to those who knows somebody. It's a very political town, and is ran by a few families who have ownership of the gas stations and other businesses. My advice would be to move to a warmer climate like S. Carolina, Georgia or Florida. The cost of living may be lower in Gaylord, but the lack of jobs doesn't help at all. Most people in the area are poverty-stricken and are government-assistance reliant. The town itself is less to be desired (coming from a very wealthy city in the Southwest myself). A lot of old buildings and the city itself is trashy. A lot of the people in Gaylord are as well. Many people are on government assistance and don't mind it. A lot of drug use and pot smoking is found in Gaylord. Not a great fit for any family trying to better themselves in my opinion.
