Cost of Living in Lockhart

Lockhart's cost of living is better than Austin in several ways. While Austin is only a short 30 minute drive and the traffic there is unbearable, Lockhart has typical traffic for a small town where people are going through it to get to the coast or on up North. Gas prices are usually lower here than in Austin or the surrounding communities. Utilities are about the same as everyone else unless you are fortunate to be part of a co-op like Bluebonnet Electric which lowers your costs even more. Groceries are comparable to Austin and surrounding communities. Housing is less expensive and you tend to get more for your money here. Taxes are lower than Austin as well. The town of Lockhart has many events and has a wonderful small town feel to it. Great place to live and commute to Austin for work.
