Review of Shingletown, California

Difficult to have quality with the crime rates so

My family and I spent a week in Shingletown with friends last summer.
Almost everywhere we went we were accosted by people begging for handouts, even to the point of knocking on our car windows at stop signs.
Every time we went to the grocery store, we were approached by these various dirty, unkempt people.
The owner of a local shop told me that he regrets moving there saying that there is a terrible meth problem and that the authorities do not seem interested in keeping ahead of it.
I do not know for sure, but we wil never go back there.

Davis, apparently you were here when all the "panhandlers" were visiting. I live here, and I can honestly say that the only time I have been accosted by them is when they are traveling through from one place to the next. The owner of the local shop...must have left or your are recounting your story incorrectly. There is not a single business person in Shingletown who does not WANT to be here and is fully integrated into the lifestyle. Coming from San Jose as you did, I'm fairly certain you had certain expectations and attitudes when you arrived in our community...we would love for you to return...just leave those things behind and you will be welcomed with open arms and minds.
